danho@pardus ~ $ sudo klamav
Error: "/var/tmp/kdecache-danho" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0.
QLayout "unnamed" added to Klamav "KlamAV ", which already has a layout

Your UID is your User Identifier, firstly, (thought unlikely to work), try "su root". I'm afraid I can't find any solutions on changing your UID.

In my opinion, you don't need an anti-virus, Linus is still a fortress against virii, you do however need a firewall, try installing "firestarter" from Package Manager.

When installing "firestarter", also have a look here
What is the benefit of the default firewall of Pardus above Firestarter ?

The difference in my eyes is negligable, but because you wanted to use KlamAV I assumed you weren't happy with the built in firewall of Pardus, so I suggested another Smiley

However, here are the benefits of "firestarter":
> You can control inbound and outbound connections.
> You can monitor the total size of packets recieved and sent
> You can monitor the activity of the packets
> Firestarter has facilities for port forwarding, internet connnection sharing and DHCP

^ However, the project has been discontinued, so immunity from current exploitation methods would render your Pardus vulnerable is "firestarter" were used as your firewall.

Thanks for the answer.
DANHO asked about KlamAV.
I am not interested in KlamAV, but I was triggered when I saw Firestarter.
And I know that there is/has been a problem with it.

Im gonna try and give firestarter a go sometime. After all, Atolboo recommends its with the SECRET solution.
Not that Im not satisfied with Pardus built-in firewall in Network Applet. (Brilliant)
Im totally satisfied with my LYNX's splendid capabilities.
.
I just wanted to scan my system files and some ntfs partitions with Klamav. To see what I come up with and how it works, and I have several times since the first post. Thanks for the great responses.
try "su root".
It works
Code:
danho@pardus ~ $ su
Password:
pardus danho # klamav
kbuildsycoca running...
QLayout "unnamed" added to Klamav "KlamAV ", which already has a layout

Note: Can't update Klamav from ver. 0.93.3 to 0.94.2 w/ 2007.3

[SOLVED]
