When you pick the one at the bottom of the mentioned dir (from 13-04-2008) you get the install CD, I am now trying to install Pardus 2008 from within VirtualBox running in Pardus 2007.3, my PC is now busy whit that...

New one brought out today (april 13th) , see:

Do we know if the critics here http://beranger.org/index.php?page=diary&2007/12/21/09/43/08-pardus-2007-3-the-same-ol-window are being addressed in 2008?

Pardus' unique tools will use PolicyKit to set privileges of users. See more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PolicyKit.
So there will be no windows-like(!) system privileges.

Here is a concept of PolicyKit. Watch the video of new user-manager;

Looks really great, thanks for this.
How is that going to fit with the updating of the system through pisi? Will we have to set up a root account when moving to 2008 or should do a fresh install to make sure we have a root user?

Pardus 2006 does not exist, so that would be spectacular. In 2006 Pardus was called 1.0 Cheesy

I think pardus 2008 will be using a new repo. I tried pardus 2008 on virtualbox and I feel its really beautifully, installer desktop every thing looks very professional and beautiful at the same time. I am using sidux 2008-03 right now and will move back to pardus as soon the 2008 edition is release.
I feel the time its taking to release 2008 edition is justified, it takes time the create beauty  Wink

From the stylish French Pardus website http://www.pardus-fr.org I got this (found in their own forum):

=========================

As I understand Pardus developers choose to await the KDE 4.1 release and not hurry with the other dstro's into preliminary KDE4 releases.

One of the strengths of Pardus is, I feel, that the developers rather choose to take their time to come with a well thought and well built new release than to choose to be fixed at specific release dates.

So for now apparently the 2008 beta is expected by the end of this month and the final release by July/August.

In the frnech forum there is a link to people who cannot await this (e.g. because of lack of specific hardware support in the current 2.6.18 kernel used) in which a howto is provided for compiling a 2.6.24 kernel for the current 2007.3 Pardus system.
