DSL- Connection

I do not know if it is rigth to post following under this topic.

I have a question, maybe i will get an answer.

Well:
I connect to internet via eth0 to an external small modem I got free from my provider. I had to configure the connection with console, input

pppoe-setup

because with networkmanager there is now way to configure, or I am to newbe to know.


After I configured I am able to connect via console when I input: pppoe-start.
The connection functions quiete well, without Problem.

But: If I klick Networkstatus at Desktop Pardus tells I am offline. If I want to use Kmail to fetch E- Mails this will not work, because also Kmail believes I am offline. With Firefox I am able to fetch the mails. Webbrowser Konqueror and Mozilla are also working. Kmail I state it again not.

Question: Is there a way to change this? How? What happend?
