What is the right way to update the kernel? I did a normal update through Pisi but the kernel did not upgdare, just the programs.

Best thing is to wait untill a kernel update is made by the developers, since they polish the incompitibilities. Your system might not work properly when installing an new kernel by yourself.

So the idea is that the devs will integrate the kernel updates in PISI and it will update automaticaly?

Yes, you just have to type:
sudo pisi up
once in a while and just enjoy it.
