Namings of hard disk drives depends on the nature of their interfaces :

SATA hard disk drives are named sda, sdb, etc.
PATA (=ATA=IDE) hard disk drives are named hda, hdb, etc.

What do the messages say ?

PhiX,

you're right about the naming of hard drives in linux. However if a distribution uses the newer libata driver even IDE drives will be called sdX (sda, sdb, and so on). Just to let you know ;-)

Hallo,

after automatically format and partitioniering the driver comes the information, that the driver now will format and partitioniering.

After that nothing happens.

I tried it 4times and every time the same problem.

Andreas,

you mentioned "a lot of Error messages" in your previous post. Don't you get those anymore?
Could you tell us a bit more about the hardware you use?

Hallo,

the problem was solved in which I removed Vista and installed Pardus on an EXT3 formated driver.

It was not possible, that the bootloader was writing on an NTFS formated driver.

Greetings

Hmm, that's strange. GRUB can't "read" NTFS partitions but it doesn't really need to. It can chainload  the Windows bootloader that in its turn will start Windows. This will work with NTFS partitions too.

Anyway, whatever the problem was, it's good that you managed to install Pardus in the end ;-)

So far by trying Pardus 2008 I have not been able to connect to theinternet, on my laptop no wireless connection device is recognised and on my dekstop the networkcard is not recognised, which in both cases was always without problems in 2007.3

Also in the bottom taskbar, in 2008 there is no network applet icon visible, which I am used to in 2007.3

Have other early users managed to establish an internet connection using the 2008 test version?

PS: There is a bug in the 23-4-2008 iso in the first menu, when you choose english, still the turkish setup is loaded, you can only bypass this by altering the text in the bootoptions rule
(language=tr should be "en" for instance)
