Getting nvidia driver to work with 2008 RC?

Is there a trick to this I'm missing? From pisi I've installed nvidia-new drivers along with the config tools. After this I run 'nvidia-xconfig' and xorg.conf is good to go but when I reboot I get nvidia driver not found.

After that I unstalled/reinstalled the driver but got the same thing. Then I uninstalled and installed the driver manually after downloading the driver from nvidia. So far no joy. Am I missing something obvious here?

Oh, and I really like the look and feel of 2008 so far and can't wait for the repos to get more filled up (Opera 9.5) and to sort out this nvidia driver thing.

Just run "display-manager" application to configure your card. It should smoothly configure it

display-manager appear to not use /etc/X11/xorg.conf Where is the configuration file to restore my old file ?

Thanks but i have already tried the wiki method : doesn't work on Pardus 2008 RC1...

display-manager has modified a conf file but it's not /etc/X11/xorg.conf

have you tried to manualy install nvidia drivers?

here are some references regarding manual installation of nvidia drivers click

p.s. maybe it would be a good thing first to uninstall all the nvidia packages that have been installed prior the installation.

When I try from the packages and configured xorg.conf I get this error:
driver 'nvidia' not found

When I install from the official driver .run file from NVIDIA I get this error:
no screens found

Once I change back to the nv driver is xorg.conf everything runs fine again.

I need the drivers installed otherwise performance is horrible.

I am using Pardus 2008 Final

Hi, I'm trying to put a new guide in wiki: http://en.pardus-wiki.org/Installing_graphics_card_drivers_for_Pardus_2008

Pardus 2008 comes with a unique utility called Display Manager. This utility helps you install your graphics card drivers and configure your displays. You can run it by clicking Pardus Menu > Programs > System > Display Manager.

You should never touch xorg.conf when installing drivers. Just use the new tool.
