Hi,

I recently installed Pardus 2008 final on my Toshiba Satellite A100. At first, I thought it went ok, but when I booted the laptop for the first time, my screen went grey after 10 minutes. That was the first and only time I had that, but it was strange. Then, when I booted Pardus for the second time, it kept hanging on the black screen between the mudur init process and the KDE start thing. I rebooted again, and this time everyting went fine.

The problem is, it still hangs sometime at the mentioned black screen. It is random, and usually a reboot helps (but it is annoying). Then, while computing, the screen flashed once in a while. This isn't very common, but still. It looks like the screen image gets distorted, for like 0,005s. While booting, it also always hangs for like 10 seconds on the screen before the KDE start thing, but u can already see the mouse (so the X-server is started). When shutting down, it hangs for the 10 seconds after the desktop disapeares.

It cannot be a hardware problem, since it didn't have that behaviour at the 2007 version, and while selecting failsave in the Grub menu, everyting goes fine (but then I don't have 3D acceleration, while it uses the vesa driver). Sysinfo:/ shows that I have a Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller.

Hello,

did you configurate your Graphiccard with the Display-Manager?

Well, there isn't much to configure, it already uses the 'intel' driver, and has 1280x800 as it's resolution.

I just found out that it has something to do with the 'intel' driver itself. I've selected the universal vesta driver, and almost all the problems are gone. I don't have the annoying flikkering anymore. Maybe a kernel update with a better intel driver is the solution, and I want to stress that this didn't occur in the 2007 version.

Font problem should be fixed in the testing repository. Here is the link to the
package (if you want to try):

i already fixed the problem . I put Option "NoDCC" in my xorg.conf and the big fonts in KDM are gone.

I will try this package and see if it solves my compiz fusion bug .

So far Thank You  Smiley

You have to add this line to drivers section in xorg.conf to use compiz on intel:
Code:
Option  "AccelMethod" "XAA"

Well, the original problem was solved by adding

Code:
Option "FramebufferCompression" "false"

to the xorg.conf file. I haven't noticed any changes with the new driver, but no other problems appeared either.
