Code:
echo $PATH
/bin:/usr/bin

Is it a bug or is it a new security policy ?

Sorry, I don`t know. Wink

Perhaps you should subscribe in the Mailing-List and write it there.

You should use su - to switch to root user with its environment variables. (not su only)
See:
Code:
jnmbk@pardus ~ $ su
Password:
pardus jnmbk # echo $PATH
/bin:/usr/bin
pardus jnmbk # exit
exit
jnmbk@pardus ~ $ su -
Password:
pardus ~ # echo $PATH
/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:
/opt/bin:/opt/sun-jre/bin:/opt/sun-jdk/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:
/usr/kde/3.5/sbin:/usr/kde/3.5/bin:/usr/kde/4/sbin:/usr/kde/4/bin

Thanks for the answer, but I can't see why su - would be more secure than su ?
What is the reason about that change ?

Hi,

This was a decision taken at a time to exclude superuser programs from normal users. However, it created a lot of questions like the ones you had, so I think with the latest baselayout package, they made some change on this.
