Firefox, because it is really open source, and I started browsing with Netscape which is sort of succeeded by Firefox...

I recently switched from Firefox to Opera. Although Firefox 3 is a lot faster than FF2 I love the speed of Opera. It also has lots of things, like the ability to put the list of open tabs on the left hand side of the screen, that I really like. I also use Konqueror occasionally.

Opera. When I installed Pardus 2008 I installed Opera 9.5 from the community repository. I've found it to be terribly buggy. It freezes constantly and becomes unuseable after a couple of minutes. That, along with not being able to get any sound meant I had to walk away from what was otherwise an excellant distro that I had been awaiting for some time.

Has anyone else found a similar problem with the Opera from community? Anyone do a tarball install with better luck?

Same here no problems whatsoever with 9.5 (flash works like a charm) release. It could be the fact that Andreas and myself are still using the 2007.3 version of pardus.

p.s. I`m just building 9.51 trough pisibul

It could be the fact that Andreas and myself are still using the 2007.3 version of pardus.

That could be a very important difference.

Let us know when it's ready. Will it show up as an update in pisi or will you have to go through pisibul?

I`m not sure if it will show in package manager. I also don`t know if 2007.3 will still be officially supported with fresh pisi packages and developed any further (should ask the devs that questions). My guess is, this is not likely going to happen.
So far the only way I can think of getting opera 9.51 on 2007.3 is to build a package yourself trough pisibul.

Hello,

Opera you find in the Contribut-Repo of Pardus 2007.3 and also Pardus 2008.  Wink

I do agree however the version of opera in repo is 9.50, while if you build it yourself from pisibul, you can get 9.51 which isn`t in the repo, at least the last time I checked it wasn`t.
