Hello everyone,

As many of you know that pardus install cd doesn't have an option to upgrade your system from install cd. But don't worry about that much. There is a very simple workaround.  I just figured out howto upgrade your system from the install cd. In order to the that :
  • copy all packages which resides in cdrom:/repo into /var/cache/pisi/packages/ I presume you know howto copy files. sudo cp sourcedir targetdir .This will enable pisi not to download those packages. Because they will be already cached  Grin.
  • then give update command from console sudo pisi up
That's it.

I don't think this will work for 100%.
How about a new kernel and the modification of /boot/grub/menu.lst ?  Huh?
You can check the kernel in Desktop>System and with "pisi info kernel" in a terminal.

And don't forget to empty /var/cache/pisi/packages/ afterwards.

It's been tested and then posted. I never post such an information without testing first.

Result of my test:
Before "sudo pisi up":
Quote
atolboo@atolboo-pardus ~ $ pisi info kernel
Geïnstalleerd pakket:
Naam: kernel, versie 2.6.25.14, uitgave 106, bouw 43
.
Pakket gevonden in pardus-2008 repository:
Naam: kernel, versie 2.6.25.14, uitgave 106, bouw 43

atolboo-pardus atolboo # uname -r
2.6.25.14-106

After "sudo pisi up" and a restart of the PC ( in order to read /boot/grub/menu.lst):
Quote
atolboo@atolboo-pardus ~ $ pisi info kernel
Geïnstalleerd pakket:
Naam: kernel, versie 2.6.25.16, uitgave 108, bouw 45
.
Pakket gevonden in pardus-2008 repository:
Naam: kernel, versie 2.6.25.16, uitgave 108, bouw 45

atolboo-pardus atolboo # uname -r
2.6.25.14-106

Translation:
Geïnstalleerd pakket -> Installed package
Naam -> Name
versie -> version
uitgave -> issue
bouw -> build
Pakket gevonden -> Package found

Code:
$ pisi info kernel
Installed package:
Name: kernel, version: 2.6.25.16, release: 108, build 45
Code:
$ uname -r
2.6.25.16-108

So it is worked for me

Here is another "pisi up" result.
This time from Pardus 2008.1 Beta with Pardus 2008.1 Hyaena Hyaena CD.
Quote
atolboo@atolboo-pardus ~ $ sudo cp /media/sr0/repo/*.* /var/cache/pisi/packages/.
Password:
atolboo@atolboo-pardus ~ $ sudo pisi up
Updating repositories
* Updating repository: pardus-2008
Program Terminated.
Could not fetch destination file "/var/lib/pisi/index/pardus-2008/pisi-index.xml.bz2.sha1sum": [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')>
Please use 'pisi help' for general help.
Use --debug to see a traceback.
atolboo@atolboo-pardus ~ $
And in /var/cache/pisi/packages there are 675 files.
