I grabbed remastersys and had a look, installing it is easy but it's not going to work as-is on Pardus. The script is extremely ubuntu-specific so I'd have to actually rewrite the whole thing to get it working. It's not designed to be portable across distros outside the debian family.

Sorry. :)

Bummer!

Well thanks for looking at it.  Embarrassed   I believe you.

How about PARDUSMAN?

Here is what I found from the software forum in Pardus. What can you do with it Lashni? Can you make it run stable? Can you get an ISO captured of a whole complete Distro of  Pardus?

Please let me know.

Last I heard was that someone had an ISO created by Pardusman but they were not unsure of it's validity.  I am told that the program itself is waiting to be put in Pardus repository. If this does work I would like to use now and not wait until the next distro release.

Here is the forum excerpts:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At first you should build "pardusman" package from the "dev" repository, by using the PiSi finder tool namend "pisibul":
http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=1539.0

After the setup of "pardusman" you can start it over a terminal.

Pardusman comes with a graphical user interface. It is a simple way to create your own Pardus Linux ISO-image (USB-stick, cd/dvd, a.s.o.)

There was a thread I posted in recently with instructions on how to build the svn version of pardusman and the last release of it. It appears to have been deleted for some reason. I think miltonjohn2 was the thread originator, title was 'how to remaster Pardus-Install-CD' under General Topics. From what I remember he'd got it installed following my notes but was unable to get the program to build an iso.

I think this was the link when it existed: http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=2181

Maybe milton deleted it as the thread originator or a moderator did for some unknown reason. Annoying.

Lashni,
Can you give it another try?
I did a few days ago. I got pardusman to come up as GUI, I filled in most of the fields.  After about 10 secs. the program quit and no .ISO was made.

Can you tell me what you filled in the blank fields.  Maybe I am doing something wrong.

**Can you please tell me your steps since they missing from the post?**

Part of the Pardus project contribution at Google Summer of Code is:

Pardus CD/DVD/USB Distribution Wizard

Description : Currently Pardus distribution media is created through an application called Pardusman which is complicated and used by experienced developers. We would like to develop a wizard like application which is user-friendly and easy to use for our user base. With this application users will be able to create Pardus distributions for their special needs.

Requirements : Python, general package management knowledge

Mentors : Bahadır Kandemir, Faik Uygur, Onur Küçük

Documents : http://pardus.org.tr/eng/projects/pisi/index.html

=================================================
I guess we all have to wait a bit for this Wizard to be released.

I did notice a pardusman-2008 (google for that) entry in SVN, but do not know how to compile it or whether it can be compiled at all at this moment.

to get pardusman:
svn co https://svn.uludag.org.tr/uludag/branches/pardusman-2008/
or try this: https://svn.uludag.org.tr/uludag/trunk/pardusman/

as users.

then : cd pardusman
as root do:
setup.py

this is the way to get pardusman.

then get a image

The command to install Pardusman should be:

Code:
python setup.py install

with superuser or root privileges.

Mehmet Nur Olcay -who helped me build both the IDJC and Icecast pisi packages- replied at my question posted above:
============================
It would be better if you ask about Pardusman to pardus-devel list, since lots
of devs are reading that list. But as an additional information: Pardusman is
good to use now. All official Pardus Iso images are being prepared by
Pardusman. You can use it yourself, too. Though USB creation is not enough to
use, DVD/CD creation is pretty well...

Here are the commands:

1. in your local directory:

Code:
svn co http://svn.pardus.org.tr/uludag/trunk/pardusman/

2. in the pardusman directory:

Code:
python setup.py build
( this will build pardusman, but wont install in system)

3. You can now open pardusman by entering /src directory:

Code:
python pardusman.py

or

again in the main pardusman directory:

Code:
sudo python setup.py install

will install it to your system.

That's all. Hope, it have been useful...

The svn pardusman version had not been updated in 12 months, and is aimed at Pardus 2008 (should work in that I guess), but not  at 2009.

Apparently based on browsing the SVN the Pardusman project continues as webbased Pardusman only, which has been updated last month, read about it elsewhere in the forum.

That dir is:
http://svn.pardus.org.tr/browse/trunk/gsoc/web-pardusman/?root=uludag

and:
http://github.com/t3rm1n4l/pardusman/tree/master

Because of Comment #3 I started playing with Pardusman with the following result: A file /tmp/iso/My_test_iso.iso (679MB)
This is how I came to this result in Pardus 2009 after open Konsole:
1. Check/install the required packages
Code:
sudo pisi it PyQt PyKDE xdg-utils cdrtools squashfs-tools pisi subversion pyqtermwidget make -y
2. Get source
Code:
[OLD NOT valid!!!!!!] svn co http://svn.pardus.org.tr/uludag/trunk/kde4/pardusman/ pardusman
As the above source is not valid anymore, download the attachment pardusman.tar (login required) unpack and continue at 3.
3. Goto directory
Code:
cd pardusman
4 Run
Code:
make
5. Start pardusman
Code:
python pardusman.py
In Pardusman:
6. Open > projects > 2009 > kurulan-int.xml
7. Make the following modifications:
        Image title > My_test_iso
        Extra parameters > leave/make empty
        Repository > http://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/pardusrepo/2009-test/pisi-index.xml.bz2 (also look here )
        Release files > leave/make empty
        Plugin package > leave/make empty
        Work folder > /tmp/iso
Image type > Installation Image (there is also Live Image - didn't test yet)
8. Make Image.........................
I have to re-test the above on a new installation, but until then..... try it yourself.   Grin
And after a new installation it's  Grin

* pardusman.tar (540 KB - downloaded 43 times.)
