Kdenlive 0.7beta1 released
Mon, 10/06/2008 - 19:25 — admin

After 10 months of work, we are proud to announce the release of the first beta version of Kdenlive for KDE4.

Kdenlive is an open source multi track video editor based on the MLT video framework and FFmpeg.

Main Features:
* Capture video from your camcorder, webcam or screen
* Mix a large number of different formats (depending on your FFmpeg install): mpeg, flash, mp3, ogg, png, jpeg, dv, hdv, ...
* See the result of your work (effects and transitions) in realtime
* Export your work in several formats (hdv, dv, mpeg, ...)
* Create titles, slideshows and more

Download:
You can download the 0.7beta1 source package from our sourceforge project page. Kdenlive relies on several libraries, so you will need some experience to compile from source. If you want to try it, go to our compilation page.

Other users can try the Kdenlive Builder Wizard that downloads, compiles and installs the latest development versions of FFmpeg, MLT and Kdenlive locally without touching your system libraries. Download the builder from: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=85826

Translations
Kdenlive translation files have not been updated in this beta release. We hope to have several translations available for the 0.7 final release. If you want to help, check our translation page.

Give us your feedback
We need your help to improve Kdenlive, so please leave a comment on the Feedback page or use our Bug tracker.

Warning:
Keep in mind that this is Kdenlive version 0.7 beta1. There are still some issues, but we are hoping that you can help us solve them before the final 0.7 release which should occur at the end of October.

[Kdenlive-devel] Release plan
From: jb <jb@kd...> - 2008-11-07 09:43
Hi everyone.

I am rather happy with the current svn state, we manage to fix all important
bugs and are now ready for the Kdenlive 0.7 release I think, thanks to all who
helped.

I will be away for the week-end and plan to release Kdenlive 0.7 on tuesday
(11th of november).

Regarding the application icon, I re-added the current Kdenlive icon. If we
can find a good solution for a new icon before tuesday (see
http://www.kdenlive.org/bbforum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=593 ), I will integrate it
in the 0.7 release but I don't want to delay more...

Hope it's ok for everyone (especially Cinephiliac who is preparing the press
release & working on icon)

jb

Kdenlive 0.7 released
Wed, 11/12/2008 - 18:48 — admin

We are glad to announce the immediate release of Kdenlive 0.7

This is the first release of Kdenlive for KDE 4. Here is a quick list of improvements over the previous KDE 3 version:

    * Complete rewrite of the communication with the MLT video framework, which means a huge speedup in all timeline operations
    * Capture from different sources: DV, HDV, webcam and screen grab
    * Better KDE integration (notifications, job progress, Nepomuk annotations)
    * More effects and transitons (improved support for Freior)
    * Full undo support with history
    * Video rendering is now completely independant from main application, you can safely work while rendering
    * Initial support for Jog Shuttle devices

Kdenlive is currenlty translated in Czech, Dutch (by me  Grin), Catalan, Spanish, German, French, and Italian.

Download Kdenlive:
Currently, only source code is available on our download page. As soon as some distro packages are ready, we will update the page.

To compile Kdenlive, make sure to check our information page.
