Hi together,

an user from the German Pardus Linux community forum has troubles with his printer EPSON EPL 6200 L:
http://forum.pardususer.de/index.php?topic=194.0

The native CUPS driver in Pardus does not support this hardware, but there is a project which develops special drivers for this kind of Epson printers called “Epson EPL Driver”:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/epsonepl/

Other Linux operating systems like Mandriva serves a package for this driver:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/6824168/com/epsoneplijs-0.4.0-7mdv2008.1.i586.rpm.html

Ozan Çağlayan form the bug tracking built the same package for Pardus Linux:
http://bugs.pardus.org.tr/show_bug.cgi?id=8238#c5

On Mandriva Linux this printer works well, but whatever not on Pardus Linux Huh?

So if anybody has the same printer can he/she help us in the bug tracking to solve this issue (in English)?
http://bugs.pardus.org.tr/show_bug.cgi?id=8238

Thank a lot for future feedback Wink

Hi,

Sorry I can not help you with the bug tracking, as I don't have that type of printer.  Not sure if this will help:

Hallo Gürkan,

I hope it works, too, as it seems to be a problem with certain Linux distros, kernel module, not sure.

I have a Canon Pixma ip3000 printer, and so far it works except for one web page I go to, the Los Angeles Times Crosswords, where I like to print the Sunday crossword.  Using cups, the print is not clear, like some of the dots of ink are missing.  Still, in Pardus it is better than the last kernel, distro I was using (Mint Elyssa) where the page would print the page pushed over to one side of the paper plus the messy fonts mentioned above.

Hopefully with upgrades, they will fix this for the Epson.

ups, forgot, and if all else fails, there is turbo print.  It is a third-party printer drivers that are made for several printer brands and models.  It is not free, but one can try it out for one month.  I would look over their forum to see if the particular printer in question works with their drivers on Linux.  They don't always work.

Cheers,
