Hi,

One of my three Pardus installations is on a special-needs computer (an ADL Microspace PC) that has no sound card built in. I plugged in a USB sound card, a Voyetra Turtle Beach Micro, which in turn leads to my stereo system. It needed no configuration from me, and works perfectly.

I also have a Compaq laptop that has its own sound card and onboard speakers, but no dedicated jack for external speakers, only headphones. I thought I could put another Turtle Beach sound card into a spare USB slot, and put my own speakers into that. So I did, but the sounds still played through the internal systems. I don't know how to tell Tasma to ignore the internal sound card and speakers and use the USB sound card instead.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Mourningdove,

Have you disabled your onboard soundcard in the BIOS settings ?

Sorry to take so long answering this question. I was forced into house repair mode the last couple of days  Shocked

I might be missing something, but the BIOS settings (found by hitting F10 at startup) don't seem to mention anything about the sound card. I'll look again tomorrow, but I don't think it's there. Which doesn't sound right to me, either.
