Unless I'm somehow missing it, I would like to see a DC++ client in  Pardus 2008.2.

I am not familiar with DC++ but after some searching I noticed this in the Pardus repo, can this help you?

http://paketler.pardus.org.tr/contrib-2008/valknut-0.3.16-7-1.pisi

See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valknut_(software)
Contents below:
Valknut is a program that uses the Direct Connect protocol. It is compatible with other DC clients, such as the original DC from Neomodus, DC++ and derivatives. Valknut also interoperates with all common DC hub software.

Valknut was originally written by Mathias Küster and is licensed under the GNU GPL. It is written in C++ and uses the cross-platform Qt library for its GUI. Valknut compiles and runs on Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, and OS/2 - eComStation.

Originally, Valknut was called DCGUI, which unfortunately was similar to the name of another Linux DC client. It was then renamed to dcgui-qt to avoid confusion. However, trademark problems relating to the use of 'Qt' in the name forced another name change, to Valknut.

Following the release of Valknut 0.3.7, Mathias Küster stopped working on Valknut. Edward Sheldrake then moved the code into the wxDCGUI project, where work is underway to add additional features, as well as to port Valknut's Qt3 user interface to Qt4 and eventually to wxWidgets. In may 2008 the first Qt4 version was released.

During startup, the graphics of the splash screen shows a Valknut.

And The Valknut Project

http://wxdcgui.sourceforge.net/

About

Valknut is an open source cross platform client for the Direct Connect network.

Valknut only supports the old (but common) Direct Connect "protocol".

Unfortunately it has no support for the much better ADC protocol from the DC++ team. If you need an ADC client, try something based on the DC++ core like LinuxDC++.

Unfortunately, due to changes in recent versions of DC++ (>= 0.696), valknut 0.3.7 is no longer usable, because DC++ will be unable to download from valknut. TTHL support is also required these days, so valknut 0.3.8 is out too.

The source code used in this project started from the 0.3.7 release from the no longer present dcgui.berlios.de site.

Dclib and Valknut are distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. With additional permission for using the OpenSSL library.

As you have mentioned yourself, it is no longer developed and out of date, and it can't support "dc++" ("valknut 0.3.7 is no longer usable, because DC++ will be unable to download from valknut"), its not crucial to me, but thank you for putting in the effort to provide such an informative post.

Here are two programs:
http://linuxdcpp.berlios.de
http://javadc.sourceforge.net/
They aren't in the repositories, so you have to install them manually.

And one of you could post a bug report requesting linuxdcpp to be packaged as new PISI package.

http://bugs.pardus.org.tr/

Give it a try sometimes the developers act really quick on such requests!

Thank you rusev, someone replied to your bug:
 ------- Comment  #1 From selim ok 2008-10-29 14:52:14  -------

Fahri has this package already in his playground. I have build and used it for
a long time without any problem. But i don't know, why it still in playground.

http://svn.pardus.org.tr/viewcvs/playground/applications/network/linuxdcpp/?root=pardus&pathrev=10455
^Thats the source code, how can it be compiled?

I guess you should reply to this in the bug report.

The playground files to which is referred date back to 2006, and actually the directory of fahri is no longer there in the pkaygorund (I cannot find it).

When you browse:

http://svn.pardus.org.tr/contrib/devel/applications/network/

you will also not come across any application named linuxdcpp

So apparently work needs to be done;-)
