realtek 8187 usb wireless lan adapter

hi,

i have a problem to connnect to the wlan router with a RTL 8187 usb adapter.
with an other (zydas) it functions.
has anybody an idea how i can make the rtl8187 function under pardus. (under ubuntu it works)
the stick is dedected by pardus but when i try to connect to the wlan router i got a error message like:
....py script ..... auth failed. or does anybody knows that this stick does not run under pardus?

I have a Sitecom Wl-168 USB adaptor with RTL8187 chip.
And I have No problems with this one.
In Pardus 2007 I had to use ndiswrapper http://forum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=1152.0
My advice for this moment: try ndiswrapper (look in the wiki)

If its only the authorization that failed, it would mean the router still should be operatable using Konsole, under "su root", but I'm afraid I don't know how to connect without a GUI.

Try the following, I scoured several forums for them, the first was on Ubuntu, and may be GNOME specific, the second applied to ethernet but is based on KDE:
man iwconfig
iwconfig wlan0 mode managed channel 6 key open <yourwepkeyhereifany> essid MyNet
iwconfig wlan0 ap DE:CA:FF:C0:FF:EE
dhclient wlan0

ifup eth0
then
ifconfig

As atolboo mentions ndiswrapper is reccomended.

..i tried with ndiswrapper as written in the turkisch wiki.
so the driver was installed like before he was also.

i was able to see and scan the router with the rtl8187 usb-stick, that means the stick functions, but i was not able to login to the router.
has anybody an idea whats wrong?

I have no problem with the Wl-168 RTL8187 USB adaptor on my main computer.
This one is fitted with a USB 2.0 port.
This is with Pardus 2007 (with ndiswrapper) and Pardus 2008 (without ndiswrapper).

However on another (older) computer with USB 1.0 port I have problem with this same device and Pardus 2008.
I have to install Pardus 2007 on this computer to test this combination.
And I have a third computer with USB 1.0 to do the test.
Investigation continues .............
Which USB-version is your computer using?
Have a look in System>KInfoCenter with the USB-stick connected.
Maybe it has to do with the USB version or we have a bug here?
And to get more feedback use the commands from http://en.pardus-wiki.org/Configure_Wifi_Without_Network_Manager

yes they are different. the english one is good deteiled and depense on wlan. the türkish one is not so deteiled and depense on ndiswrapper.

i use 2008.1 and the stick is recognized as usb 2.0

the problem seems that the stick cant connect to the wlan router.
i was able to install the stick as "adhoc" network. in "managed" mode it wont work.
when i look for other wlan sticks i recognized that in germany nearly all sticks have a rtl8187 chipset.
other chisets are rare. i dont know how ubuntu manage the stick works (only as 2Mbit).
maybe in turkey the rtl8178 chipset is sold rare.

With the Kernel (2.6.25.19-112) update my problem with Wl-168 RTL8187 USB adaptor have been solved for my another (older) computer.
The Ralink WLANdrivers are included in the kernel.
