hi all

1st of all , i am new to the linux world Cool , Pardus was an amazing surprise for me, it is really great! it is very simple, funny, and stable!

I have only one problem, i installed two languages in my pardus, english us and arabic... they work nice but i can't switch between them except by clicking on the language icon with the mouth i.e the keyboard switching combination does not work at all! the strange thing is that this combination works great in the login screen!!! i.e i can switch between the keyboard layouts with the keyboard combination in the login screen but once i login , it stops working !!

any suggestions?

Not sure I understand, but have you looked in Tasma=>Peripherals=>Keyboard Layout and enabled keyboard layout and added arabic and english keyboards?

If not, do that and then an icon will appear in the system area in the right corner where you can switch between different keyboard- layouts.

First, disable the kde keyboard layout from Tasma.
Go to Peripherals - Keyboard layout-then remove the tick from "Enable keyboard layouts"

Then go to start menu-->programs-->system-->more applications-->FIle manager-super user mode
and type your password. Then paste that in the location bar:
/etc/X11/
and open the text file "xorg.conf"

FInd the section
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier  "Keyboard"

Then replace
Option  "XkbLayout" "us"

with

Option  "XkbLayout" "us,ara"

You can also choose the key combination for switching the keybord layouts:

Option  "XkbOptions" "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"           for intance CTRL+SHIFT

or

Option  "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"            for intance ALT+SHIFT

Then save the changes.
Do not touch anything else in that file!!!
Then restart your computer and create a new document to try what you've done. You won't have the flag program in your tray, but you will at least be able to switch the layouts with the keyboard.
