A torrent-client that makes it possible to download without a tracker.

Package incompatiblity - It has not yet been compiled as .pisi (to the best of my knowledge).
I only use Pardus officially, no other distro.

Couple of reasons, I'm fairly new to Pardus and I'm unfamiliar with its package management (pisi), I don't trust my ability to perform the compilation as much as I would in a group of Pardus Developers working for TUBITAK/UEKAE, more importantly, I have far too much work to do for the time being, I may try to do so in a week on so.

You don't have to compile anything, because Tribler is written in python. You have to install m2crypto the package.

I tried to run it with
Code:
python Tribler/Main/tribler.py
but it fails to import a python module called "Tribler.Main.vwxGUI.MainFrame". This is likely to be a path problem.

BTW, LimeWire and Shareaza have the same goal as this Tribler... And they are much more widespread.

I'm not sure about Shazeaza, but LimeWire is not torrent downloading and it has been discontinued (its now Frostwire), in addition to which, it should definately be removed from the repositories - Nearly all search results are "virii" *1.

*1 - By Virii, I mean Windows-specific malware.

I already offered contacts of the Tribler developers, they are willing to help running the program under Pardus. They also hoped that Tribler would be a default program under Pardus, which would give Pardus a more popular status for ICT developers in the Netherlands. But this request was rejected. And I still wonder why the developers are just ignoring Tribler....

It is fairly new, they may simply be waiting for it to show popularily in Ubuntu etc - to know there's a market for it, before they go to the problem of making it available in Pardus.

Wow, I thought it was really new - I never really heard about it until I read an article about it in LinuxToday, its possible they just don't think its popular enough.

I've been thinking more about it, without sites like TPBay and Mininova, we wouldn't know if a torrent is any good (ratings, comments etc)...
