hello friends,

i  have a problem. my 5 year old daughter destroys her Video DVDś. i could not explain her to handle them carefully (one is gone to trash).
So i thaught that i can rip them as ISO file to the harddisk - as backup.
this functions at some DVD. i use the program K3B.
but some DVD i can not copy. i got an error message like: failed to retrieve all css keys.

whats that? what can i do?

Hi Bahri16,

I never used it, but there is a program called dvdbackup to do what you want to do in the repository.
And here is his howto : http://dvd-create.sourceforge.net/dvdbackup-readme.html

thanks for the fast reply.
but now i got following error message
libdvdread: Error cracking CSS key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB (0x001bb6af)!!
any ideas??? Huh?

by the way. with k3b you can rip the dvd as xyz.iso and !! this xyz.iso can be played in - VLC media player -
its like you have the dvd in the drive.

Your DVD is encrypted. Is libdvdcss installed ?

Hi Bahri,

I've always used K 9 copy.  The only thing it doesn't do is remove the region code, which from what I hear, has some lawsuits against its legality - region codes - that is.  When you think of it, it is a silly thing, especially when you think of transcontinental air flights going from one country to another.  While watching an in flight movie, is the movie going to melt while traveling  from one region code to another?   Grin

Give the above app a try, and make sure you have libdvdcss installed.

region codes are no problem for me - i dont travel physicly far away.

Simply click on "modify" on your first post and add "[solved]" in front of its title in the "Subject" box.
