http://www.vdownloader.es/download.html

Its a very small application that allows users to extract audio (.mp3) from YouTube videos, its technically illegal, however, totally untraceable, the only evidence the ISP will have is a YouTube IP and your own PCs IP its not like thepiratebay.com which is a recognised entity for illegal downloading etc.

I would greatly appreciate anyone who would take the time to port this program, I have little knowledge of PISI as yet, vDownloader does run under WINE, but I had problems closing the program (error, missing .dll).

Mhmrcs, maybe you should consider downloading an flv file from youtude and then extract the sound stream from it?

Download using e.g. DownloadHelper then extracting via Konsole? It's a very roundabout way, and is dependant on several packages in order to work, and dependencies are never a good thing.

No extra dependencies are needed to run this command-line :

Code:
ffmpeg -i file.flv -f mp3 -vn -acodec copy file.mp3

Still testing Fedora 10 at the moment, that command doesn't work, I'll try it tonight when I reinstall Pardus (Fedora is awful... The security is excellent, but GNOME is totally unstable (volatile almost...)).

Thanks, I found that command on the internet earlier this morning, I thought other packages had to be installed though (since .mp3 isn't a free format etc).

Of course, I was talking for Pardus, where mp3 support is available by default...

Lol, that's the thing, there is .mp3 support installed, GNOME/KDE have great differences in terms of commands. (I was downloading/extracting YouTube songs), in any case, shall see in a few hours if it works Smiley.

I tried it, the command line did as it should, but I couldn't download the .flv file, it doesn't matter, vDownloader under WINE is easier and guarenteed sucess, thank you all for your help.

I use the "Fast Video Download" Firefox extension to download flv files.
