Pardus 2008.2 Roadmap

Hi;

We are happy to announce the second update to Pardus 2008 series, Pardus
2008.2.

Pardus 2008.2 will contain all the new features of our tools, bugfixes and
updates to packages since the release of Pardus 2008.1.
As always, existing Pardus 2008 users will be able to update their systems to
Pardus 2008.2 just by updating via package-manager or PiSi command line tool.

In order to test new features of YALI & COMAR and to match the release
schedule of soon-to-be-released KDE4.2, we'll have a few more test releases
than the usual - The release schedule for Pardus 2008.2 will be :

Pardus 2008.2 Alfa      - 30 December 2008
Pardus 2008.2 Beta     - 7 January 2009
Pardus 2008.2 RC1      - 16 January 2009
Pardus 2008.2 RC2      - 23 January 2009

upcoming Pardus 2008.2

This alpha includes all of the enhancements and bugfixes commited since the
release of Pardus 2008 and can be dowloaded from

We would like to remind you that this is not a final version, and should
not be installed on production machines. We did our best to fix all
bugs, however should you find one, do not hesitate to enter a report in
our bug reporting system (http://bugs.pardus.org.tr). Please note that to
eliminate potential problems, burn the CDs in DAO mode, 16x speed.

As in 2008.1, we released Pardus 2008.2 Alpha as one install CD in English and
Turkish, one in all supported languages and one Live CD based on KDE3, and
finally one Live CD based on on KDE4.

Does anybody know how to make a final iso out of the xdelta.iso + Pardus_2008.1_Hyaena_hyaena_[Int].iso ?

Edit: the command is:

xdelta patch Pardus_2008.1_Int_--_2008.2_IntAlpha.xdelta Pardus_2008.1_Hyaena_hyaena_[Int].iso Pardus_2008.2_IntAlpha.iso

And the result is Pardus_2008.2_IntAlpha.iso  698MB.
And the md5sum is the same as in http://ftp://ftp.pardus.org.tr/pub/pardus/installcd/2008.2/Pardus_2008.2-Int_Alpha.iso.md5sum

Not sure if it's just my hardware so I won't report it as a bug yet but I tried two installs with grub going to the / partition instead of mbr and they both crashed when installing grub.

I then did an install with no grub and hooked it up manually with my pclinuxos grub and it's working fine so far.

My hardware is one sata drive (2 vfat partitions) that pardus identifies as the drive it wants to install grub to and an ide drive where I have my pclos grub, win xp, and about 9 distros installed at the moment.

hello to all i hope it was ok i put a link and told the guys over at http://forums.raiden.net/viewtopic.php?p=117508#117508  about 2008.2



i have try and installed 2008.1 and was very happy with it i ended up changing my motherboard out going to install again waiting on my download of the padrus_2008.2_alpha and pardus_calisan_2008.2-kde4_alpha to get done.   thanks alot
