Pardus 2008.2 Roadmap

Is an up to date 2008.2 alpha the same as this or is worthwhile installing over it? (Note it's not a big deal for me to do the install, I have multiple distros to use, keep all data files on a separate partition, and it's kind of my hobby  )

If you have updated all your pisi packages repositories, then yes, you have the same version. Of course, it doesn't allow you to test things you run at installation time, like the installer (YALI).

We're happy to announce Pardus 2008.2 RC1 - Code Name : Gazze,
third test release for upcoming Pardus 2008.2

As you may have known, Gazze is the Turkish name for 'Gaza'. 

This release includes all of the enhancements and bugfixes commited since the
release of Pardus 2008.2 Beta and can be dowloaded from

We would like to remind you that this is not a final version, and should
not be installed on production machines. We did our best to fix all
bugs, however should you find one, do not hesitate to enter a report in
our bug reporting system (http://bugs.pardus.org.tr). Please note that to
eliminate potential problems, burn the CDs in DAO mode, 16x speed.

As in 2008.1, we released Pardus 2008.2 RC1 as one install CD in English and
Turkish and one in all supported languages. A KDE3 and a KDE4 based Live CD is
released as well.

- Pardus 2008.2 RC1 Install CD [Turkish/English] : This CD is the familiar
Pardus InstallCD with _only_ Turkish and English Install support.

- Pardus 2008.2 RC1 Live CD [KDE3] : This is the Live CD based on Pardus'

stable version of KDE 4 series and includes KDE4 ports of a
variety of populer KDE applications :  Amarok, K3b, kaffeine,kvirc,
ktorrent, krename... Please note that Pardus' stable desktop environment is
still KDE3 and this KDE4 based live CD is intended as a technology preview
about KDE4's status in Pardus.

Also, in order to save bandwith, use can use the supplied xdeltas to produce
2008.2 RC1 isos using 2008.2 Beta release isos.

Let's remind it one more time - this is a beta grade software : though we
tried to eliminate all the bugs we are aware of, quite possibly there are
more of them. We would be happy to hear about them in our bugzilla and
pardus-users email list.
