Hi,

I don't know if this is a tip or a trick, just something that happened after recently checking out that mysterious utility called, Pulse Audio under multimedia.

In Pulse Audio Preferences>Speakers>Speaker Layout there was nothing selected, so I clicked on the drop-down menu and saw and selected 2.1, as I have two speakers plus a sub-woofer for my speaker system.  No system sounds after this.  I finally got system sounds back after changing it from "2.1" to "Stereo".  Cheesy
