But does this solve the problem with Ctrl sequences for you?

And if so, what did the trick?

Tasma->Peripherals->Keyboard Layout->Layout->Include latin layout checkbox needs to be checked. After that things look like

setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us
setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout ru,us -variant ,winkeys
The trouble's gone.

I cannot find that checkbox ?
Ah..I see it appears after you have added russian layout, it is not visible by default  Cheesy

Nice that this is issue is solved for you

Is it worth an entire page? A line or two in the Tasma entry would suffice...
