KDEnlive, import mpeg clip

Hello, I'm using kdenlive 0.6.0-svn but I can't import neither .mpg nor .flv files. The program tells me: "format not supported" or something similar. How could I solve the problem?

You can convert your video files with ffmpeg in the supported input format of KDEnlive (I don't know what it is).
For example, I use this command line to convert flash video into avi ones :

Thank you Phix. but the problem is that I have a Sony Camcorder, which films directly in Mpeg, KDEnlive should support Mpeg by default, but I do not know why it is not working.

Willem, the forum of kdenlive (at http://www.kdenlive.org) is a better place to ask for kdenlive specific help.

A couple of notes:
which version of kdenlive are you using at this moment?
Are all necessary dependencies installed?
Have you cheked your default project settings?
Is the cam being recognised, in other words are you able to capture anything at all upon pressing the record button?

I haven't worked much with kdenlive lately (yes I am waiting for an up and running 0.7 version), but you can PM me, or check my postings in the dutch forum.

All still in 0.x phase, IMO kdenlive remains a very promising video editor for linux

PS Willem, since I am unsure about the exact current status of kdenlive 0.7 as PISI/Pardus concerns, you might consider trying a kdenlive live DVD (debian based I suppose) version to work with the newest kdenlive.
The 0.7 version is way better then the old versions.

Since I now read you are using a 0.6 svn version I would strongly suggest to upgrade to 0.7 by means of kdenlive builder wizard or downgarding to a stable (pisi) version...

The problem you mention is reported over a year ago in exact the same words, by you? Or someone else?

(Kdenlive 0.7.4 was released May 30th, very recently!)
