I am trying to make an entry in /etc/fstab for an Ext4 partition in order to be able to mount/read the partition.
Until this moment without success ! Sad

Hello atolboo,

please look here  Wink

and Tasma > System > Disk-Manager

There you find not the option to change to Ext4

please look here  Wink
I read:
Quote
Ext4 is part of the Linux 2.6.28 kernel
I guess we will have to wait for Pardus 2009 ( kernel 2.6.30) !

and Tasma > System > Disk-Manager
There is NO Disk Manager?

There is NO Disk Manager?

Then you must install it from the Repo. Wink

I think I am getting older !!!  Grin    (I made the bug report for this.)
It isn't working with the 2008 Disk Manager. I did expect so.

I don't think it is a good idea to install a kernel which isn't in the repository.
I am going to try this on my test system.
Result will appear in this topic.................

After installing kernel-2.6.28-114.pisi from

(thanks for the link) an extra entry for kernel-2.6.28-114 is automatically made in /boot/grub/menu.lst and you can select between the existing and new kernel.
Starting the new kernel resulted in a non-functional sound server (device /dev/dsp can't be opened).
My ext4 partition is /dev/sda7.
After adding
Code:
/dev/sda7  /mnt/sda7  ext4  noatime  0 0
to /etc/fstab (+ restart) and adjusting the write properties of /mnt/sda7
I can read/write the ext4 partition. Cheesy

My suggestion:
Use P2009 or if you want to use P2008, make a bug report about support for ext4 and DVB-T.

i think the problem is that this kernel.pisi has no soundmodules as you can see following.

sound # ls
soundcore.ko  sound_firmware.ko
sound # pwd
/lib/modules/2.6.28-114/kernel/sound

i installed kernel-source. can i create new kernel from the source? how? can i delete modules which i really de not need in the kernel-source directory?

i do not want to use P2009.

Compiling your own Linux kernel is very tricky and far beyond my knowledge of Linux.  Smiley
So I can't help you on this issue.  Sad
