Trying to get acquainted with Pardus I've run into a couple of unexpected issues: (1) discovered that the installation CD isn't a LiveCD (Pardus-2008.2-Canis-aureus.iso); (2) the LiveCD (Pardus-2008.2-Canis-aureus-CalisanKDE4.iso) has no install option (is it really so?).

I've checked the Wiki; nothing much there about options.

(1) Is it possible to install from the LiveCD?
(2) Is it possible/recommended to install KDE4 desktop right from the start?
(3) What am I supposed to do if I want KDE4 anyway?

it is not possible to install Padus from Live CD.

All KDE4-package you can install after installing Pardus 2008.2

To change from KDE3 to KDE4 you must do the following, after you have installed all KDE4 packages:

If you liked to work instead of with KDE 3.5.10 with KDE4, then proceed please in such a way:

1. All programs close and with the combination of keys STRG + ALT + F1 a console meeting open.

2. In this console meeting would drive out as root the following instructions:

service kdebase stop
service kdebase4-workspace start

3. System start again (e.g. " with instruction; reboot" or over combination of keys STRG + ALT + distance)

These services can be furnished also with Tasma.
Open in addition in Tasma the service manager and deactivate and/or activate with the respective service its autostart.

Hi(2) Is it possible/recommended to install KDE4 desktop right from the start?

This is not recommended since important features as package managment and network managment are not yet implemented , KDE4 version is just a sort of preveiw one.

Waut for Pardus 2009, then KDE 4.2 is shipped as default desktop.
