Author Topic: Sudo updated to 1.7.2  (Read 585 times)

Sudo (superuser 'do'), the ubiquitous Unix/Linux utility for allowing users to safely raise their privileges, has been updated. It allows the an administrator to control which users can run as root and what commands they can run. It also provides logging of the use of those privileges.

The new versions, 1.7.2, adds a number of features and bug fixes to the utility. For users with complex policies, a new #includedir directive allows a directory of sudo configuration files to be automatically included. Other changes include fixes to the -g and -l options and alias checking in visudo, improved caching of lookups and support for double quoted names in the sudoers file to avoid the escaping of characters.

An experimental feature has also been added to allow for the use of non-Unix groups for lookups, but this currently only works with Quest Authorization Services. Sudo is licensed under an "ISC-style licence and the update is available to download now.
