In some other distributions, it was possible to assign a compose key. That is, in Ubuntu, I could type [LeftWinKey] ' e (consecutively, not as a chord) and come up with é.

I finally discovered that

Tasma | Peripherals | Keyboard Layout | the tab that says Xkb options

would lead me to the same thing.

In Pardus 2009, we no longer have Tasma, and I can't find how to enable the compose key.

Does anybody know?

System Settings >> Regional & Language >>Keyboard Layout

Tick to enable layouts then on the advance tab Smiley

That's an interesting tab. I never in my life saw a setting option for Esperanto circumflexes.
