On the pardus packages website, the version of arora [webkit-based browser] in the main (pardus2009) repository is listed as 0.10.1 which is current, but when I actually install it, it is 0.9.0. Is this a case of the build system not keeping up, or what?

Both when visiting the URL and when double clicking arora in Package Manager I only see version 0.9.0

http://paketler.pardus.org.tr/pardus-2009/arora-0.9.0-11-4.pisi

So the current version in Pardus is indeed 0.9.0

I do not know where you noticed a 1.0 version but perhaps you were misled by the delta pisi packages that are also listed at the above URL.

 arora-1-2.delta.pisi                                         27-Aug-2009 19:23  574K
 arora-2-4.delta.pisi                                         24-Sep-2009 20:50  591K
 arora-3-4.delta.pisi                                         24-Sep-2009 20:50  3.7K

They do not mean that a version 1.2 or even 2.4 or 3.4 are to be installed, I guess the misleading numbering refers to upgrading previous versions of arora (in Pardus) to newer versions.

Anyway I did not notice anything else then a 0.9.0 package of Arora...at http://paketler.pardus.org.tr/pardus-2009/

BUT in the TEST repo a 1.0 version package is emerging, did you mean that one?

http://paketler.pardus.org.tr/pardus-2009-test/arora-0.10.1-14-7.pisi

pardus-2009-test is not the same repo as pardus-2009 of course  Cheesy

I was looking at: http://packages.pardus.org.tr/info/2009/stable/binaries.html, which lists 0.10.1.

Ah, I see!~ And I see that a number of updates have been realised just this last week.

If you want to you can build the pisi package for 0.10 and install it.

In the Konsole do:
Code:
sudo pisi bi https://svn.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2009/stable/network/web/arora/pspec.xml

comes with 33 dependencies (!)

So I guess that 0.10 will arrive in the not too distant future. In which case I'll probably wait (building can be quite slow on a netbook).

I built it on my laptop, here I attach the resulting pisi package.

I installed just fine on my laptop (see screenshot), I am using Pardus 2009.

I guess the reason why it ahs not appeared in pardus-2009-test or pardus-2009 yet is the quick follow-up of releases 12, 13 and 14 so the packager nearly had the time to move the package in the repo, and also apparently he noticed minor bugs which led to further afjustments before publishing in the test repo..

Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try on my "test bed" box.

An interesting postscript: It appears that the arora developers are working on Pardus -- I was checking the project page to see if a rendering issue I was seeing had already been reported, and noticed that the downloads were source, .pisi, .exe and .dmg (no debs or rpms).
