Running Google Chrome in Pardus 2009

As of yesterday the Chrome beta DEB package contains the 4.0 beta version from Google Chrome.

When you want to upgrade and you followed my method described earlier in this post (reply #1) repeat all steps (1-4) up till and including the following ciode

sudo cp opt/google/chrome /opt/ -r

The last step can only be performed when Chrome is not open at the same time.

When you restart Chrome, you wll notice it is now 4.0.223.11 version

The Dev channel has been updated to 4.0.237.0 for all platforms (Windows, Mac, and Linux). The focus on this release has been feature polish, stability improvement, and extensions work.

Text drawn over rounded corners (including buttons) is no longer blurry. This affected a variety of sites, including Google Calendar and Google Reader.
As an experiment, we've changed the way clicking in the omnibox works. Leave a comment on the bug if it bothers you.

Known Issues:
[r26861] - Autocomplete/ select box values are not being correctly populated in Linux. As a work around you can use the up/down arrow keys to view the current selection.

I didn't do anything and I have "Chromium 4.0.227.0 (30190)".
Which digits do represent a newer version?

I read earlier that Chrome updates automatically when new releases come out (o.e. when it is instaleld correctly).

However I must admit I did not check whether this was also the case on my system, I did not check the current version before reinstallingupgrading so eprhaps I did not have to do that either, I will check it upon a next release...

More info: In P2008 it's "4.0.227.0 (30190)" and P2009 it's "4.0.223.11"

Further investigation results:
On 05/11/09 in p2008 My way = chromium-browser-0.0_30190-10.pisi (17.4MB) and installation in /opt/chromium-browser with date of files  27/10/09 and version 4.0.227.0.
On 07/11/09 in p2008 My way = chrome-4.0.223.11-1.pisi (11.5MB) and installation in /opt/google/chrome with date of files  23/10/09 and version 4.0.223.11
And on 07/11/09 also 14 packages (yacc,cmake,quilt,............) were installed as dependencies.
My conclusion: For a very short period an even newer version was available.

I didn't do anything and I have "Chromium 4.0.227.0 too
Perhaps one solution it is the active testing depot.

Note that there are slight differences between Chromium and Google Chrome.

This thread was initially about Google Crhome beta (linux), not about Chromium, which has much similariteis of course.

Thanks for clearing this misunderstanding.
Apart from the slightly different logo it's not clear to me why they are side-by-side.
They are both very fast Web browsers.

Google Chrome is simply a "rebranding" of Chromium, but is a little more ready for public consumption.

(They are however about >95% exactly the same, Chrome has an autoupdater which Chromium did not have, but from this thread I wonder whether Chromium now has also an autio-updater built-in. Furtehrmore Google Chrome measures and stores things to improve their browser and improve their services (what does the consumer/community want / where can Google make additional money in the end), see for yourself whether you like that Big Brother  idea or not).
