I wish to try and upgrade to Pardus Linux from Windows XP, as I was very impressed with its reviews and wish to use both KBasic and Kdenlive which is why I picked a top KDE distro
However, I know absolutely nothing about how to burn the iso file (or what it is) to a rewritable DVD (I prefer a rewritable so I can burn an updated version of the OS) , how to partition the system, or how to install programs such as those mentioned above
I would gratefully receive any help so that I can install Pardus with the minimum of fuss
Please forgive me for my ignorance

There is an excellent installation wiki page for Pardus 2009 over here:

Before that you obviously need to burn the .iso file AS AN IMAGE (not as just data) on your CD or DVD to get an install medium.

If you still have Windows available  view this separate wiki page on how to prepare your Pardus installation CD from there:

You can even try to install from an USB stick, see this page:

With all these wiki pages (that also include screenshots) I hope you manage to get Pardus up-and-running at your own, if you encounter any troubles post them in this wordlforum and you might find some friends willing to help you further.

Welcome on board!

Once installed Pardus, you can go to Package manager, search for kdenlive and click install.
