I have an ethernet network connection in place according to Network Manager however I cannot connect to the internet.

Can anyone assist ?

The hardware is a BT Home Hub broadband router.

Oh, I was more thinking in the line of the network interface card.
You can copy the result from the following comman here (if it's an internal)

lspci | grep Ethernet

or if its external

Nothing earth shattering I am afraid -s imply replaced the wireless adapter card and followed the wlan congfiguraton instructions !!
