Hi

There's a sample download near the top of the page here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992

No matter whether I try to play this within Firefox, or download it and try in Dragon player (also tried vlc, realplayer, smplayer, kaffeine) I can't get any sound.

There are lots of similar videos around on the internet- this is just a small example.  None seem to work.

No problem with .avi, .mpg, mpeg formats.

I've played around with various settings, in various players (including output drivers) but no luck.

In the test sample above, a voice should say "support.microsoft.com".  No problems in Ubuntu.

This is a new installation of Pardus 2009, with KDE 4.2.4  Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks in advance

Hi csaenemy

That makes me feel much better.

I wonder if there's something to fix here?  A bug report, maybe?

Merry Christmas!

Neither VLC or Mplayer is able to read it because there is no wmas audio decoder :
Code:
main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `wmas'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Thanks PhiX

I can confirm that .wmv works with Totem in Ubuntu, however.

Not a problem overall though!

Regards,
