There is not much other info that I can provide other than when i try to import mp4 files it crashes my Audacity. The first time I tried it crashed, then when I re-launched Audacity it asked if I want to recover the files, I chose to and it did recover the files I had loaded. But after that first try it no longer does any recovery, it just crashes. I did a search of the forums and have seen comments that Audacity just plain works in Pardus without adding any libraries or front/back ends.

I seem to be the only one that has these crashes.......any ideas anyone ?

Meanwhile, you can erase the configuration repository (or rename it). It sometimes does the job.
Code:
rm -f ~/.audacity-data/

In the mean time as a work around......install soundconverter and convert your mp4 files to ogg and everything works
