I do not understand what the "profile" means, also the other "titles" are not understood.
Perhaps someone could supply a tutorial with all the entries filled in so that I would know what type of information is required for each button
(i use a router)

(why are all the words in this post underlined in red?

On the desktop there are 2 home icons and 2 trash icons

I can answer about the red underlines in the text. Its the automatic spelling control who do this. Click with the right button on the red text then you can see. You can also go in the advanced firefox settings and remove automatic spelling control:

but all the words were correctly spelled yet each had a wigly red underline

So it seems to have corrected itself.
I am having problems receiving emails using kmail
the help section talks about "create and configure" in the "receiving" tab , yet no such buttons appear.

Since my last post I found the following blog:

This seems to be by a KDE developer.
After KDE 4.0 was released there were a number of people who called it a "fiasco".
As far as I can understand it this KDE  developer is saying that the method of releasing  KDE must always be like that as it is the only way of getting a large number of people to try it and to submit error reports.
This would seem to be similar to Debian "testing"; the major difference is that Kde offers no "stable" version
This developer says that PIM is "not good" at present and that nepomuk has almost no function at present.
One of the comments to this blog suggested that KDE should develop apps at the same time so that users could see the benefits that "nepomuk" et al bring to him.
The author of this blog says that there is not enough manpower for this to occur.
I am having second thoughts about KDE ( I was really happy with KDE 3.5; but there is no support now)
