Hi Gurus,

How can we change the desktop of Pardus from KDE to say GNOME or LXDE?

Is it doable?

XFCE is the easiest alternative, but since some time Gnome and especially LXDE packages are also offered, unlike XFCE the latter two were never in the default software reposiories (but might be in future releases).

There are some forum threads on these alternative DEs for Pardus, use the search option please.

Dont forget about http://www.enlightenment.org/
It's available in the repos, but its more of a WM than a DE.

Hi! I am a new member of the forums, and I'm Turkish.
Due to the news from ozgurlukicin.com, there is a project going on, "COMAK, Project of the Year" (Coklu Masaüstü Kurulumu = Multiple DE Installations) http://www.ozgurlukicin.com/haber/bu-yilin-projesi-comak/. Also there are ISO files for installable minimal Pardus (without any default DE's), called "Minimal" on http://ftp.pardus.org.tr/pub/pardus/nightly/2011/minimal/x86_64/

A team of university students (under supervision of an academician) from Canakkale University have been working on this project (http://nyucel.blogspot.com/2010/10/pardus-coklu-masaustu-kurulumu-comak.html). They also published a roadmap (http://nyucel.blogspot.com/2010/12/comak-proje-takvimi.html)

I will translate the roadmap if I find time.
