I have the package manager set to start in the tray at startup.  When it attempts to refresh the upgradeable packages list it complained that it couldn't find the "pardususer" files (sorry- I can't remember exactly what it said).

I then unticked the pardususer repo and rebooted.  Now package manager won't start at all.  The error message when I try to start from the command line is:

IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer /uri'
package-manager(1513): Communication problem with  "package-manager" , it probably crashed.
Error message was:  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name tr.org.pardus.package-manager was not provided by any .service files" "

I've tried to reinstall package-manager, but I get a similar message.  Anyone any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Andrew

List all the repositories :
Code:
pisi lr
Disable the pardususer repository (in case "pardususer" is the exact name of the incriminated repository ):
Code:
pisi dr pardususer

Hi PhiX- thanks for your help

pisi lr gives:

[i]pardus-2009.1 [active]
   http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus-2009.1/pisi-index.xml.bz2
contrib [active]
   http://packages.pardus.org.tr/contrib-2009/pisi-index.xml.bz2
Pardususer  [active]
System error. Program terminated.
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer /uri'
Please use 'pisi help' for general help.
[/i]

pisi remove-repo pardususer gives:

Program terminated.
Repository pardususer does not exist. Cannot remove.

Use --debug to see a traceback

And I can't get the GUI to start, so I can't try to disable the pardususer repo that way either!

No- still the same problem.  if I try to remove the repo I get

Repository Pardususer does not exist. Cannot remove

or

Repository pardususer does not exist. Cannot remove

but then "pisi up" gives:

Updating repositories
Updating repository: pardus-2009.1
pisi-index.xml.bz2.sha1sum     (40.0  B)100%    398.64 KB/s [00:00:00] [complete]
pardus-2009.1 repository information is up-to-date.
Updating repository: contrib
pisi-index.xml.bz2.sha1sum     (40.0  B)100%    425.56 KB/s [00:00:00] [complete]
contrib repository information is up-to-date.
Updating repository: Pardususer
System error. Program terminated.
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer /uri'

So the update command thinks it should update the pardususer repository, even though it doesn't exist, and there is no '/var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer /uri'
 Sad

I would like to know (before removing the directory) which files and size are inside your affected directory?
To find out open a konsole and enter the following command:
Code:
ls -all /var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer
And copy/paste the result in this topic.

So the directory /var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer does exist Shocked

And as reference, my result is:
Quote
ls -all /var/lib/pisi/index
totaal 20
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 aug 16 13:45 .
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 mrt  4  2010 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 sep 19 11:05 contrib
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 sep 19 11:04 pardus-2009.1
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 sep 19 11:05 pardususer

And you are very sure about the result of your "ls -all /var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer"

And before I give instructions to remove the above directory, I would like to know the contents of the file /var/lib/pisi/info/repos with the command
Code:
more /var/lib/pisi/info/repos
Especially the bottom part with "<Url>http://pa......".

Odd- yes "ls -all /var/lib/pisi/index/Pardususer" gives the result:

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root    4096 2010-09-23 11:58 .
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root    4096 2010-09-23 10:39 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1833624 2010-09-22 08:47 pisi-index.xml
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  158519 2010-09-21 10:05 pisi-index.xml.bz2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root      40 2010-09-21 10:05 pisi-index.xml.bz2.sha1sum
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root       0 2010-09-22 08:47 pisi-index.xml.bz2.sig.part
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root     121 2010-09-23 11:58 uri
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root      61 2010-09-23 11:58 uri

Not sure why that's different to last time (maybe a typo?)

"more /var/lib/pisi/info/repos"

gives no result at all- just the word "REPOS" Embarrassed

Do a Copy and Paste next time to prevent these kinds of errors.

.......just the word "REPOS" Embarrassed
This should be <REPOS> , another copy/paste example Wink

And you will see the rest of this file after hitting the space bar in the konsole.
(or making your konsole large enough to fit the whole contents at once)
And please use copy/paste!
