I will try to find out more about.......
E [22/Dec/2010:14:05:35 -0500] PID 1067 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC3240C) stopped with status 31!
I [22/Dec/2010:14:05:35 -0500] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
E [22/Dec/2010:14:05:35 -0500] [Job 22] Job stopped due to filter errors.
I will start with    brlpdwrapperMFC3240C

And I also created this >>> Bug 15794 - Hard-to-find save option in System Settings > Printer Configuration

After installation of brother-mfc3240c-1.0.2-2-2.pisi I find in /usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC3240C" ..... almost at the end:
Quote
else
echo "WARNING: /usr/bin/$BRPRINTCONFIG does not exist"           >>$LOGFILE
    set errorcode=31
endif
Investigation continues..........

]Investigation continues..........
The result is   a new brother-mfc3240c-1.0.2-3-3.pisi and to install this version do:

1. In Firefox select this >>LINK<< and mark "Open with Package Manager" + OK.
(brother-mfc3240c-1.0.2-3-3.pisi will now be installed  and the files of the previous brother-mfc3240c-1.0.2 will be replaced with the new version)
And if the printer has already been installed in System Settings > Printer Configuration > ... do:
2. In Firefox goto http://localhost:631/printers/ and select Print Test Page.

To be on the safe side repeat step 2. after a restart of the computer.
And I am waiting for the result of this version.

(If the 3-3 version is given the same " (/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC3240C) stopped with status 31!" warning I will make a version with an empty BRPRINTCONFIG file in /usr/bin)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Congratulations.    This upgrade seems to have done the job.    I printed the test page with no printer error warning.    I then did a restart and no warning when I did a test page.    So then I pulled the text message I had created before and it too printed with no printer error warning.   Looks good at this point.

Thank you atolboo.    I have some other concerns but won't start them right now.    Will try to make some corrections on my own first.

Have a good day with your family.

Thanks for the feedback.
And the driver for the Brother MFC 3240C is now available from http://pakete.pardususer.de/pardus-2009/
And >HERE< you can find out how to add this software repository to Package Manager (it has some more nice applications).
