Cannot re-install Pardus !!! Heeeeeeelp! (SOLVED)

Have been  happily running Pardus for sometime without any problems.
Foolishly I thought I'd try 2011 Beta, either it or me cocked it up and I lost My installation.
My disk is partioned into two- root and home.
Tried to re-install , it installs OK untill it gets to

"Setting Misc. Package Configuration" then I get an error message and everything freezes.

Can anybody help?

Which version are you trying to re-install
And are you getting the same error when you try is again
In other words: Can you reproduce the error. (maybe it's a one-off read error)
Did you do "Media Integrity" at the beginning of the installation

Using version 20009-2
The error occurs at the same point every time.
In case the CD was damaged I down loaded and produced another CD.

(most of the problems are caused by a combination of medium and reader)
Or try (if computer can start from USB) Installing Pardus 2008/2009 on a Netbook.

The second disk was produced on the wife's computer.
Will study the Wiki and let you know how I get on.

OK I've come to a grinding halt.
A little more information. To enable me to have a running computer
I installed PCLinuxOS into the root partition of my hard drive. (Leaving My home partition intact)

Now I have a running computer.
Looking at the Wiki I opted for  - Method 3 (for Linux users)
So (1) I downloaded Pardus-International-2009.2-Geronticus-eremita.iso to My Desktop.
      (2) I then entered this - ls -la /dev/disk/by-id/usb-* into Gnome Terminal

and this is where I come unstuck-    as per the Wiki I entered- ls Desktop/Pardus-International-2009.2-Geronticus-eremita.iso
and I get "No such file or directory"

Need more help please.

This (highly probably) means that you didn't open a Gnome Terminal at the location where your downloaded Pardus-International-2009.2-Geronticus-eremita.iso is currently situated.
You can check this with the ls command.

And why not use this Method 2 (for Linux and ......)

Well My good friend , I downloaded ./mandriva-seed.sh.
But When I try to run it I get- "Could not open the file /home/john/Downloads/mandriva-seed.sh using the Unicode (UTF-8) character encoding."

When you said that I realized that my version was very old- so downloaded and installed the latest version.
Ran ./mandriva-seed.sh. Loads OK but when I click on "browse" it shuts down  :'(

Here is another way to use mandriva-seed with an USB device (minimum of 1GB).
Tested on my MSI Wind U90X-037EU Netbook computer.
The Pardus Installation.iso file should already be somewhere on the computer.

1. Create a FAT32 partition on the USB device.
2. After this temporary remove and connect and mount the USB device (note the /dev/devicenumber)
3. Download and start Unetbootin.
4. Select Distribution= Parted Magic and  Select Version=Latest_Live and Drive:=/dev/devicenumber
    (143MB will be downloaded and transferred to the USB device)
5. After UNetbootin has finished, restart the computer from the USB device.
6. Select the "1. Default settings (Runs from RAM)" option (top) and Pmagic-5.7 will be started.
    (this is necessary as the same USB device is then available to make a Pardus USB device with mandriva-seed)
7. If a wired internet connection is available this will automatically be made and for WLAN you have to configure one.
8.Start Internet > Chromium Web Browser goto pardus-wiki.org and download Mandriva Seed 2010.
9. Close Chromium Web Browser and double-click My Docoments on the desktop and mandriva-seed.sh should be visible in PCMan File Manager.
10. Right-click and set the Owner: Execute properties.
11. Open LXTerminal and start ./mandriva-seed.sh
12. Select in PCMan File Manager (left side) the partion where Pardus Installation.iso file is situated
13. In Mandriva Seed > Browse  via root > media > sd?? > to the Pardus Installation.iso file and Open the file.
14. Select Target Device and a bootable Pardus Installation (or Live) Usb device will be created.
15. At the end reboot from the USB device and enjoy Pardus.

Well my friend, thank you for all your help.Looking through your replies I thought about the above.

The above I think was the problem.

I downloaded the iso again , burnt it and it installed first time and a very interesting thing happened.
I installed PCLiuxOS into the "root" partition and assumed it had over written the Pardus files but it had'nt ! My desktop reappeared exactly as it was!!
