but i wanna stick with kopete y'know, help them in the long run
And you can install google desktop in the same way and it worked. now i've got my whole harddrive indexed and searchable.

by the way, did u successfully installed and used gtalk plugin using rpm2targz command?

If yes, that would mean that even if any package is not available right now, we may get it in rpm or deb format and follow the same procedure to install?

Yes, i have successfully converted it to tar.gz. i've also installed google desktop like that.
But gtalk crashes firefox in my system.
