Excellent! Especially coming from him. He tells it like it is and can be painfully honest at times.

He certainly doesn't pull any of his punches and he has been at it for a long time.

Since I don't have wireless, that part doesn't matter, but is he right about the installation?

The only thing about the wireless is that you have to know to click on the tiny little "o" in the panel. But, in my experience, it's been the same in every KDE distro I've tried. Just click on the little o, select the wireless connection, and you're good to go. It could be made more obvious what it actually is.

 I might have forgotten about the way it is in Pardus 2009 but I really don't remember there being an auto configuration wizard in it.

As far as bookmarking wireless connections, I don't know as I don't have a laptop but I'm sure that, since it picked up my own, it'd pick up any other wireless connections in the area.

How did the installation go for you?

The installation was fine for me too. I had a slideshow, although it repeated itself a few times and the English was obviously translated. I had no issues with it.  About restarting to enter your username and password, well, you'd have to restart anyway. The way Pardus does it allows you to make an OEM install or install it for someone else while allowing them to select their own usernames and passwords.

I do remember now,  that the 2009 installation had completely different terms for /, /home, /boot, ect. if choosing to select your own partitions. It might have been a part on Pardus to try to make it easier but I'm glad they didn't keep it in 2011.

I never understood what the big deal was about restarting.

I had no problems with installation in 2011. But I know some that are not used with Pardus have problem here:

When install it in the hardrive it stuck at "create custom layout" automatic and then people click "next" there and just continues.
Then you come to LVM:

There you must do many manual choises that a beginner not understand.

When install it suposse go on top automatic to "use all space" then click "next" than it would not be a issue.


If look at the old Pardus 2009 its a automatic option and more easy to understand:

Not realy a big issue but I would like that the coming Pardus 2011.1 would have a "default setting" in partitions. So you must active choose another option.
So I can agree with the review in some aspects.
