Pardus 2011 Customizing guide

Pardus is still lacking good English documentation. I suggest that we create a "Pardus 2001 post install guide" and have all the tips in.

We can use this topic to put the tips, afterwards compile them into one document and post it on the wiki.

So if you have any tips for Pardus 2011 please post it here, even links to other posts will be helpful.

I will start by adding the first tip about adding extra Repository

Start the "Package Manager" (Add remove Software) programm.
Go to menu: Settings->Configure Package Manager...
Click on Repository Tab
Click "Add new repository"
Repository name: Community PardusUser.de
If you are using i686 (32 bit):
Repository address http://pakete.pardususer.de/pardus-2011/i686/pisi-index.xml.xz
for x86_64 (64 bit):
Repository address: http://pakete.pardususer.de/pardus-2011/x86_64/pisi-index.xml.xz

Click OK then check it in the list
and for the other Community Repository use the following

Repository name: Community Pardus-Linux.Org
If you are using i686 (32 bit):
Index Address:http://paketler.pardus-linux.org/P2011/i686/pisi-index.xml.xz
for x86_64 (64 bit):
Repository address: http://paketler.pardus-linux.org/P2011/x86_64/pisi-index.xml.xz

Click Ok again to return

I was thinking about focusing more about Pardus, but we can include KDE stuff as well.

Best way is to update the Pardus Wiki. Then its not necessary to ask a lot of questions/issues here that coming up over and over again:

Much info there is outdated. Like this example:
If you see on the Wiki its a very good step by step guide with screenshots for install Pardus 2009:

But if look at 2011 its not the same:

English Pardus Wiki is not done by the developers. It is a community work. Everybody is just asking and demanding, but contributing is mostly a foreign word. Linux is giving and getting.

This post install guide is a very good idea! Go ahead!!!

One of the things I found most confusing when suing Linux for the first time was the Plasma toolbox. I couldn't figure out the difference between panels, plasmoids, folder views, activities, etc. Here is a good visual tutorial from kde.org http://userbase.kde.org/Plasma

Thanks all for the replays, is shows there is an interest in the guide. Also, as some mentioned an English installation guide is needed.

If there is a good Installation guide in Turkish or German that someone can translate, I will be willing to add screenshots and revise the translation.

@JoanRC, I still don't know what that colourful kidney in the upper right hand corner is for?  I haven't fiddled with it yet.

I can't think of any post install tips, as Kaptan usually helps me with most of my needs.  I could see Kaptan welcome wizard getting better in the future, but it suits my needs for the most part as a post-install helper.

I tried Google language tools to translate it, but it didn't translate all that well.  I kept seeing the word, gentoo.   

I would like to know how does one grab images of the install process?  I assume these images are on the install disc, but it would be nice to know how to access them to possibly use in a how-to.  I looked on the install disc with no clue where they would be located.
Pictures say a thousand words.
Sometimes the best how-to's are located directly on your computer so you don't have to go on the internet to find them, especially true when you go through an installation. But I laugh, because I have often searched Windows XP help guide and always had this look on my face after reading an entry:

These images are not on the installation disk.
For the already existing manuals I made them with KSnapshot while doing a installation of Pardus in VirtualBox.
After that I modified them in KolourPaint and uploaded them to the Wiki page with the "Upload file" option.

atolboo, thanks for the answer!  I've been wondering about this for some time.  I did a search on this in the past week and didn't come up with anything.  Now I know, a virtual box setup is needed.
