Here's a contribution for those searching for an answer to playing iTunes on Linux.
I found this solution and it works great.
Programs needed:
Clementine
gPodder

The resulting URL (the Feed Flipper URL + your iTunes podcast URL) is then available to be subscribed to directly into your RSS feed reader of choice for ongoing podcast delivery.
Use "gPodder" for your subscription feed.
My first feed had an alternate link available where downloads were already converted.
Use "Clementine" player to listen to audio feeds. gPodder will load up straight into Clementine. Smooth...

I haven't run video yet. May need to chose your favorite viewer for this.
