How can I handle .bin packages in Pardus 2011? I remember that in Ubuntu .bin packages were self-extacting&installing files, but it seems to different in Pardus...
any ideas?

Make the file executable. Right click> Properties.

Now run the file by double-clicking if you believe that a program with a GUI.
If it's console program (the installer driver) open a console in the folder with the file. (Just SHIFT + F4 to the dolphin) and run as follows:

./filename.bin


or from ROOT.


su (enter and write password root)
./filename.bin

thanks, it worked fine with terminal  Smiley, but I dont know how to make a certain filetype executable. In properties it actually said it's executable, but when double click it brings up the "open with" window.
So, I didnt find any option in properties that would make a filetype executable...   Huh?
