hey

I have recently a very irritating problem with pardus, when i play a game (even if the compositing is turned off), and i end the game, my screen goes black! and i see a tiny stripe flickering on the left top of my screen. After a few seconds the login screen appears! and when i log back in, all my unsaved projects are gone! i even have this problem when playing windows games on wine  Sad.

So whats the problem? I fixed the problem for a little while by removing the .kde map in my home directory (but after i reboot a few times, the problem comes back, the only thing i do in kde is add some widgets to my desktop). also when i remove the config folders (.gconfig, .gnome, .gnome2; etc...) the problem is gone, but only for ONE session. After i reboot, the problem comes back  Embarrassed

I find this very weird and frustrating.. anybody who can help me or has the same problem?  Huh?

I have an intel core i3 and a build in videocard (intel HD graphics)  Smiley

Maybe a seach with "error" in one of the files /var/log/*.log will give more details Huh?

I looked at /var/log, but those files don't make any sense to me  Undecided any idea where i have to look for? cause i can't come up with anything that causes this problem.

Did you use the Find (with "error") function in Dolphin Huh?
And in Krusader it's easier to do.

any idea where i have to look for?
No, not at this moment.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I searched with dolphin, and he found this errors. I think the error that might be important is the one from the kdm.log, i think it would be somewere around 13 hours when is got the game problem  Wink

I searched with dolphin, and he found this errors.
This isn't 100% true as there can be (and probably will be) more than one "error" in a logfile.
Dolphin only shows the first occurring error.
You  can open the file in KWrite and repeatedly searchy for "error" or apply the following command in a konsole (f.i. for kdm.log)
Code:
cat /var/log/kdm.log | grep error

when i do the command i get this strange output:

Code:
tristan@pardus2011 ~ $ cat /var/log/kdm.log | grep error
Fatal server error:

Another update: i noticed there was a error in comar, so i reinstalled "comar" and "comar-api". this has solved my problem a bit, for now. but when i start a game, and my compositing fails (i can see that when the game starts fickering) and i end the game, i still get the "blackscreen-login-error". To me thats pretty strange, cause i've never had this problem in a game before  Huh? it all looks pretty unstable, or could it be the hardware of my laptop thats failing?  Huh?

when i do the command i get this strange output:
This long list of "Fatal server error:" is useless.
It only makes this post more unreadable.

And what about the other logfiles Huh?
Maybe there is an error (f.i. about KWin or similar) which gives a hint about the problem?

cause i've never had this problem in a game before  Huh? it all looks pretty unstable, or could it be the hardware of my laptop thats failing?  Huh?
Also never with this version of Pardus?
And maybe the video chip/driver has to do with the problem?

I checked every logfile, and this error comes in almost every logfile:
Code:
tristan@pardus2011 ~ $ cat /var/log/kdm.log | grep error
Jun  6 13:15:58 pardus2011 kernel: [ 9401.021680] plugin-containe[1833]: segfault at b3f4caf8 ip 004c1c47 sp b18ff09c error 6 in libpthread-2.12.so[4b7000+16000]
I'm not really sure this has anything to do with it, cause it only shows up at 13.15  Undecided
And yeah, i played a lot games on this pardus version, and never had a single problem. Pardus was by the way always the most stable distro, in my opinion, to play games. Maybe it is because of the 200 updates a few weeks ago? cause i never played a game after those updates until now  Huh?

pisi sf libpthread-2.12.so
Package glibc has file /lib/libpthread-2.12.so
If the problem didn't exist before last updates then perhaps try to install previous version glibc.
I guess you are using i686, and if is it stable repo, try:
Code:
wget http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2011/stable/i686/glibc-2.12_20100706-62-p11-i686.pisi && sudo pisi it glibc-2.12_20100706-62-p11-i686.pisi

Thanx for the reply  Wink

I did the downgrade of glibc, but that did'nt solve my problem. my problem is back, even when the compositing didn't fail, i get the black screen when i end a game. But now, in stead of a tiny stripe, there comes a message. But the message is to fast for me to read.
anybody an idea where the output of that message may be stored? Huh?
