Its often difficult to buy a new computer with Windows 7 and know if it will works fine with Linux. Maybe you want replace Windows 7 with Linux or run a dual boot etc..I think Ubuntu have a good solution to that problem:

I have write a request that Pardus would create something similar to that.

Installed Pardus 2011 on brandnew Dell Inspiron 15R laptop, so far all seems to be very well.
Just mentioning this as a report.

What I did notice on the software site (coming from Pardus 2009 on my old laptop that suddenly died) is that some packages are still in testing repo and not yet in stable repo, e.g. rdesktop pisi package (the one in testing repo works for me though). Also e.g. no IDJC pisi package in 2011.

Having released both 2011 and Corporate 2, in both 32- and 64bit versions and continuing to enable flavours other than KDE by means of Comak project, perhaps for the moment there are just too many PISI packages to be maintained, or better formulated to few maintainers (the more packages the better)..

Maybe Pardus should use LSB if they are to few developers to maintain Pisi?

should be a standard for the LSB  "


I hope they will have a solution that will last in the long run. If the Pisi repository will be to small (if they got to many Pardus versions to maintain) I think Pardus are in trouble and maybe will not survive in the furure.
