In earlier Pardus versions I could go in in the KMix settings and change the main channel to "Master Front" if I had a low sound volume in the speakers.
Then the sound was normal again:

I can not find how you do it in Pardus 2011.1? so I write a bug report about it:

Maybe it's a general issue for all the KDE 4.6 distributions. And possible not a bug at all.
But KMix should be more userfriendly in the settings as before.

I have only some problems with the speakers not the headphones. It's not the first time.

I had no sound problem with Pardus 2009. But when they released Pardus 2009.1 I get a weak sound.
Was possible to fix that and change the main sound channel from "Front" to "Master Front"  from the Kmix but take some time to find that out.
No issues with Pardus 2009.2.

Pardus 2011 was okay to, but now when they released 2011.1 I seem to have the same problem as in Pardus 2009.1 again.

One example. When I listen to some music in the living room I twist the sound volume button at the speaker to 20 % from maximum in Ubuntu 11.04 (Gnome) and thats a nice sound volume when I sit and listen.

When I replaced Ubuntu with Pardus 2011.1 I must twist the sound volume button to 50 % from maximum to get equal sound volume from the speakers compared with Ubuntu. For me that's a indication that the sound settings are not optimal after a clean install.

And the Kmix settings are different in this version to. I not understand why the KDE developers must change everything from version to version in Kmix?
I only find one pre-installed option here and no "front", "master front" or any other option:

By the way  I have tested the new version of PCLinuxOS (KDE) 2011.6  and I have the same sound problem as in the new Pardus to.
The speakers are not completly mute but much lower volume compared to Ubuntu.

Just a few examples. If I have Corporate 2 (with KDE 3.5)  installed I got no problem at all with my sound.

And I had probaly not noticed any problem with the sound in Pardus 2011.1 if I had not compared with Ubuntu 11.04 at the same day.
The speakers works but I must twist the volume button more in 2011.1 to maximum than in Ubuntu 11.04 for equal sound.

Not a big problem of course. But if the sound works normal in KDE 3.5 I think it should do the same in KDE 4.6.

And I wonder why it's never any sound problems in Gnome in any Ubuntu version I have tryed in this PC so far? They must have better hardvare detection in some way then KDE 4 in general.
Maybe the KDE developers could learn and borrow some solutions from there.

As I user I dont care if it's called Gnome, KDE or whatever as long as things works fine.

If you take any software package like ABC x.y.z, and you see y or z is a double digit number, then you know they have been making it a stable, mature product.  GNOME 2 was like this.  KDE 4 has had problems since day one and for some reason some of the bugs appear and disappear from time to time.

If you are getting tired of fighting this, go where things work you.

I recently wanted to try a dock.  After looking around a little, I picked one and installed it.  It fought me at every turn.  I got rid of it and was going to quit, but tried another one out of frustration.  It worked right away and without a fight.  It was night and day.  Both were highly rated.  I can't explain it.

Most things in Pardus 2001.1 works for me. But I just noticed this issue about the sound.
If many other have noticed it for KDE 4.6 in other distributions to I suppose they will fix that in time.

I could of course go back to Corporate 2 with KDE 3.5. But I thinks it's more fun with the latest version of any operating system.
But for just work and no fun I probably would use some Ubuntu LTS version, Corporate 2 or something similar.

I think most Linux users in general have a higher  tolerance for bugs etc.. Than a Windows or Mac user.
(But that not mean I don't care to fix the bugs)

And I guess many still use Pardus 2009.2 that works excellent. And still recive updates?

I have just installed Pardus2011.1 and the volume control slider has no effect.
There is sound, which can be modified by the knob on the speaker set.
I recently tried Kubuntu 11.04 and had the same problem
If this is a KDE feature there is not much hope (they have had some years to fix sound)
However, hope springs eternal, os if anyone knows how to fix this please post.

TODAY THE SLIDER ON THE SYSTEM TRAY CONTROLS THE LEVEL OF THE SOUND

I have no idea what I did, or did not do to achieve this
