I just read this article about the coming Ubuntu 11.10:
http://www.crn.com/news/applications-os/231002339/ubuntu-11-10-fast-and-friendly.htm;jsessionid=JquNomRor5y9bkFLTMFVvASeems to be very fast. And the Ubuntu software center be new to.
Synaptic will be gone (but still possible to install it).
Unity was much critised, but I think Shuttleworth and the team have a clear vision where they will go.
And things seems to falling in place after all.
I hope they will succeed with it.

Not just for Ubuntu itself, if it be a hit it be a boost for the Linux community in general to I think.
Now when Vista are gone and Windows 7 (and Windows 8 on the way) are here it's not so easy to attract users as before.
