is it possible to do a so called alternate installation of pardus 2011.x, so i can select whether some apps are being installed or not?

i often install one and the same os for different purposes (internet, multi media, testing, development, a.s.o.)
till now i uninstalled unnecessary applications by hand, which is not quite the same.

bets regards, owiknowi

You can use the minimal ISO of pardus available here.
For info, to install a group of packages, use something like this:  pisi it -c group.subgroup

I should tell you that after installing this, it will be command line only.
You'll have to install all the X stuff & co.

that's why, besides its solid foundation, i like scientific linux: during install from dvd one can choose desktop & applications or just install a command prompt.

downside is its somewhat poorer hardware support 'out of the box'. pardus does an excellent job there (even better then many 'big' distros.  Grin )
